FIELD TRIP TO SENECA ROCKS AREA, WEST VIRGINIA

A two-day, two-credit field trip to the Seneca Rocks area of West Virginia. Trip includes a stop at Green Bank National Radio Astronomy Observatory. Other stops emphasis the general geology, the structural geology, the paleontology, and the physiography of the boundary between the Valley and Ridge Province and the Appalachian Plateau. Course completion requires paper and take-home test. Course is offered in the Summer Semester only and is conducted on the first weekend of June AS NEEDED. GOL 105 (or equivalent) is a prerequisite and GOL 106 is recommended. Permission of the instructor is required. Saturday night is spent at Seneca Shadows Campground, West Virginia, in the Monongahela National Forest. Extra fees are required to pay for food and camping facilities.
