5. EVALUATION: Cumulative, weekly quizzes will be given, each containing a minimum of 20% review. Since the quizzes are cumulative, no exam will be given. Quiz questions will require the student to remember, define, describe, explain, compare, list, fill out charts, draw, and label. All lab textbook and textbook pictures are subjects for quiz labeling questions.
( Sample mid-semester quiz)

Most lab reports will require work outside of regular class hours. Failure to hand in a correctly prepared lab report on time will result in a 10-point reduction in the week's quiz score. Correct lab reports will result in up to 5 points extra credit added to the week's quiz score. Failure to attend a lab will result in a 0 credit for that weeks lab if the lab reports are handed in on time (i.e. you will not get the extra credit and you will not be penalized).

Missing more than 5 labs will result in a grade of F for the entire course, no matter what the quiz grade. This is a lab course and you are expected to participate in the lab.

Students are expected to spell all words correctly or the words will be counted as incorrect answers. Correct grammar and punctuation are also expected.

The class schedule shows when a student is responsible for given material. The student is responsible for this material even if it has not been covered in lecture or if the school closes.

Grades are based on the percentage of total possible points earned.

Grading Scale:
90% - up A
80% - 89% B
70% - 79% C
60% - 69% D
Below 60% F

6. ATTENDANCE REQUIREMENTS:

Students at J. Sargeant Reynolds Community College are expected to attend all classes and to notify the Instructor when absences are necessary. Students are responsible for all materials, homework, tests, and other assignments which they miss due to absences from classes.

Students may withdraw during the first 60% of a course by submitting a "Withdrawal from Course" form in accordance with the College Withdrawal Procedures. Failure to submit a form may result in a grade of "F" for the course and may adversely affect loan eligibility or other benefits.

A missed quiz must be made up on the day the student returns or as arranged with your teacher.

Since questions and discussion are part of the learning process, class attendance is necessary. Therefore, final grade totals will be reduced by one point for each absence. (There are no excused absences and students are responsible for all material missed.)
